DEAR MRS. JONES:
RECENTLY ONE OF OUR GIRLS HEARD THROUGH JACK MASSEY OF THE DEATH OF YOUR HUSBAND IN ACTION IN AUROPE. WE WERE VERY SORRY TO HEAR IT, OF COURSE, FOR WE FEEL THAT WE HAVE APERSONAL INTEREST IN EACH OF THE MORE THAN 500 BOYS WHO HAVE BEEN GUESTS HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY SINCE WE BEGAN OUR PARTIES FOR SERVICE MEN IN JULY, 1942.
AT EACH OF OUR PARTIES WE TAKE PICTURES OF THE MEN, THEN THESE ARE MOUNTED IN A SCRAPBOOK WITH THEIR NAMES, THEIR SUNDAY HOSTS, THE PARTY SPONSORS AND THE GIRLS WHO SERVE AS HOSTESSES. ENCLOSED YOU WILL FIND COPIES OF THE PICTURES WE HAVE OF YOUR HUSBAND.
OF COURSE YOU KNEW JACK MASSEY WHO IS IN THE PICTURE WITH JAMES. THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN JUST BEFORE THEY WENT TO DINNER WITH MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM NEFF.
I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU HAVE OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY IN THE LOSS OF YOUR HUSBAND.
