The Greentown Volume 4, Issue 5 66a paper for the people" I May 1997 Kingseed to Be Parade Marshal Greentown Glass Festival Greentown Glass Festival chairmen Jane Porter and Linda Waddelow have announced that former Greentown resident and TV Anchor, Jane Kingseed, dl1 be the Grand Marshal of the Glass Festival parade which will be June 14 at 200 p. m. Kingseed. the daughter of Max and Patricia Kingseed. is news anchor and talk show host for Channel Earth in Chicago. After graduating from Purdue with a degree in Communications, she has worked in radio and television in Frankfort and Lafayette. Greentown Represented at Marathon Two former Greentown residents ran the Boston Marathon Monday, Aprii 21, and one had a chance meeting with an Eastern student. Paul Loomis, son of Jerry and Barb Loomis of Greentown, ran the race for the second year. Currently a graduate student at Purdue, Loomis was pleased with his finish of 3 hours, 14 minutes and 27 seconds to place 1,902nd of approximately 12,000 runners, David Treber, son of Harry and Myrtle Treber, ran the 26.2 mile course in 25854 for a placing of 715th. Treber works at the Washington, DC, YWCA. The day before the race, Treber spotted the familial Eastern High class jacket and asked the wearer what schoo, the " E" represented. Easterr exchange student, Aad Robben, stated I' Eas t er n ' I, to which Treber asked " Greentown?" Treber then introduced himself and told of his Greentown connection. Robben was on a three city tour with the Exchange Foundation. The tour included Boston, New York City and Washington, D. C. He was not able to watch the race, as the tour moved on to New York. A native of the Netherlands, Aad has been with his host parents, Jerri and Joyce Powell, since September. Jerri stated that Aad was particularly eager to visit Harlem in New York, the area settled by his countrymen. Convertibles Nee. de. d Sondra Cofnbs is looking for convertibles in which the Glass Festival Queen and her Court can ride during the Festival Parade. Sondra's phone number is 628- 7445. Busine- ss Association Dissolves The April 16 meeting of the Greentown Area Business Association proved to be the final one. Those in attendance ( plus assent from other members by their absence) voted to dissolve the association and become members of Greentown Main S t r e e t Association, Inc. Former GABA members will be placed on committees of Main Street. Several of those persons are presently on Main Street committees. The overlapping of purposes was one consideration in the decision to disband GABA. The four committees of the Main Street Association are Design, Economic R e s t r u c t u r i n g , Promotion, and Membership t Development.
