laws of physics. Anna first was helped to lie down on a bed of
nails. A fifty pound weight was then placed on her. To add to the
drama, Mr. Maggartstruck the center of the weight with a hammer,
Anna reported no discomfort associated with any of the

Local Quilts
Sought
A quilt show is planned as
p a r t of t h e Greentown
Sesquicentennial. It will be
unique, as emphasis will be
placed on quilts of the Eastern
Howard County area.
Quilt chairman, Beulah Cobb,
hopes to have quilts loaned from
each decade since 1850. She is
anticipating red and green
quilts of the 1850' s, Log Cabin
quilts of the 1870' s, dark
geometric quilts from the last
quarter of the 19th century,
also red and white and blue and
white and crazy quilts from the
same period. There will no
doubt be pastel quilts from the
1920' s and 1930' s and patriotic
quilts from the 1940' s. She also
wants quilts to fill in all the
decades to the present.
Beulah will want information
about the maker of the quilt
including name, birth and death
date and the date she
immigrated to eastern Howard
2ounty if not born here. She is
particularly interested and in
my story about the maker and
sbout the quilt.
Quilts made by groups are also
sought. Any quilt with names on
. t is desirable. The age of the
quilt is more important than its
: ondition.
Beulah is as king everyone to
check with family members
about " forgotten" quilts which
may be in chests and closets.
Contact Beulah Cobb at 628- 2280
with information about your
quilt. After the first of January
1998 a day will be established to
photograph the quilts which will
be in the show. After the
p h o t o g r a p h y s e s s i o n ,
owners/ custodians of the quilts
may take them home until time
for the show, June 11- 14, 1998.
The show will be in the Eastern
Elementary school.
