expressed her appreciation to the
Gerstorffs for allowing the passage of
the house through their property.
It first appeared that Bowling might
be able to pull the house With his
Bobcat, a " David and Goliath" vision to
one by- stander. The slight grade to the
land and softness of the sod stopped
progress for a time. A truck was bought
in, but it could not budge the trailer.
The cavalry to the rescue proved to be a
Newholland tractor from Greentown
Equipment piloted by Jerry Myers.
Carefbl maneuvering and the
temporary removal of a few stre@ signs
found the house at its new address by
mid- day. Merrill Shrock rode the roof
and guided overhead lines down the
length of the roof as the house slowly
moved forward. The Bowlings, who
live in Kokomo, plan to rent the house.
Second Chance to Hear,-
and Be Heard
Poor attendance at the August 7
Public Hearing caused the rescheduling
of the meeting for THURSDAY,
AUGUST 28 AT 7: OO P. M. IN THE
GREEENTOWN CITY BUILDING,
112 N. MERIDIAN. All except one
Town Council member attended;
however the only member of the public
was Rachel Jenkins, citizen and reporter
for the Grapevine. The grant is to be
for the study of the downtown
streetscape and development of a design
plan and recommeiding of appropriate
improvements.
The purpose of the public hearing is
to provide citizens the opportunity to
express their views. According to Jane
Howey, grant writer, the meeting is not
limited to residents within the town
limits. The process will effect more
than just those within the town
boundaries. Howey indicated that
approval of the grant is more likely if
there is strong community support for
the process.
