Addition to Elementary School Taking Shape

As the steel frame of the addition to the southwest side of Eastern Elementary
School goes up, a striking feature is the new entrqi way. The front of the building
will be on the west, rather than on the east, as it is presgntly. The addition includes
six classrooms, a new kitchen and cafeteria, and administration offices.

Twenty- two Greentown Democrats
gathered in the City Hall September 9
for a party convention to select two Absentee Ballot
candidates to be on the ballot for
elections November 2.
James Harris and Brad Chaplin, both
Democrats, had filed for a seat on the
town council representing Ward 1.
Likewise, Democrats Don Flook and
Todd Everling had filed from Ward 5.
As only one Democrat can be on the

Any registered Democrat living in the
Town of Greentown was eligible to
come to the convention and vote. Each
voter at the convention was verified
before being allowed to vote. In
separate ballots, the incumbents, Harris
and Flook were. nominated,
guaranteeing a seat on the council for

OmSeptember 10- 12 at Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, the 40th
Anniversary of the first episode of the program BONANZA was celebrated.
Fans of the program from Australia, England, Germany, Turkey, Spain, as
well as the US. gathered at the Tahoe Biltmore Hotel to enjoy sharing
stories with cast members and their families, writers, directors,
photographers, and stunt people. Highlights of the convention were
favorite episodes, along with memorabilia, a cruise of Lake Tahoe, and a
tour of the actual Ponderosa Ranch.
During the convention there was a look- alike contest. Gary Nicholson
of Greentown was deemed to most closely resemble HOSS. This was an
extra treat for Gary, since he has been a fan of Dan Blocker since the very
beginning of the series.
