" Volume 8, Issue 9 " a baber c Comprehensive Plan Presented to Planning Commission Don Humphrey, Foresight Engineering, presented the final draft of the Greentown Comprehensive Plan to the Planning Commission on August 21. He explained that a Comprehensive, Plan is a planning document, giving guidance on what should and should not be accepted with regard to new land developments. It is a " blueprint" to use when developers come to town interested in new projects. Public input has been achieved so far by the appointment of a group- of people representative of various segments of the town. This group sponsored a survey in the Greentown Grapevine. Those comments are included in the Plan. The Planning Commission will review the Plan and meet again August 28 to make any suggestions or revisions which will be incorporated into the Plan. A public hearing will be held Sept. 25,6: 30 p. m. in the Town Hall to receive comments regarding the Plan. The Comprehensive Plan states the present view of the town and establishes goals. It also establishes an " area of influence" roughly two miles out, over which the town would have an advisory role with the county in reviewing any development within this area. After adoption of the Plan by the Town Council, work will begin on updating zoning ordinances concerning buildings, streets, sidewalks, etc. State law dictates that a Comprehensive Plan must be in place before those ordinances can b_ e_ updated.
