Work Begins on
Toll Road Park
Sixteen people pitched in on
Saturday, May 31 to begin
beautification of the triangle of land,
dubbed “ Toll Road Park.” The town-owned
property is at the junction of
Grant, Hammer, and Carter Streets.
Two flower beds were installed. I n
addition to shrubs and flower‘ s, a tree
was planted in one bed and a half
barrel and pump in the other. .
John Russell of Russell Landscaping
donated the plants and mulch. The

Association ( publishers of the
Greentown Ghpevine) donated the
barrel and pump. Maintenance will be
provided by volunteers.
Subway provided sandwiches for the
volunteers. Ladd - Dental offered their
parking lot for the volunteers.

Two Greentown Men to
Drive Car in “ The Great Race”

Kokomo will have an entry in this 5 at Daytona, Florida. It will be “ a

Dealin’ Wheels in G’town
The Greentown Historical Society
dans to launch a new exhibit on the
automobile dealers of Greentown’
about June 7.
Visitors will see an original Driver
Education sign which was used when
the driver education cars were
provided to Eastern School by
Greentown Auto. They will also see
advertising giveaway items from Don
Maple Chevrolet and Greentown Auto.

Chevrolet can be seen. Visitors can
leave a ndte about “ Who taught you to
hive? When? Do you remember the
model? They can also test their-knowledge
of some old cars, hood
ornaments and grills. Also in this
exhibit are some Ford tools used at
Greentown Auto.
Research has been done on the many
automobile dealers in Greentown and
the makes sold. In addition to locally
owned dealerships there were branches
of Kokomo businesses.
The Greentown Historical Society, at
103 E. Main Street, is open Saturdays
and Sundays from 1- 4 p. m. Extended
hours are planned for June 14 from
9: OO a. m. to 4: OO p. m. Special
