              First Antique Engine & Tractor Show
Draws Many Participants
The first antique engine &
tractor show sponsored by the
Greentown Lions Club and the
Wildcat Creek Antique Tractor
and Engine Club provided a
variety of activities. There was
a demonstration of a saw mill
powered by steam, parades of
tractors and other equipment,
tractor games, and start up
demonstrations. There was
music, a flea market, food, and
spinning and weaving. A
popular event was the tractor
ride throughout the countryside,
going to Jerome and following
along Wildcat Creek. Entries in
the show included 128 antique
tractors, 24 gas engines, 24
antique garden tractors, and 6
steam engines.
The 2” d show is scheduled for
7- May 23- 26, 2008. For more

Garden Tour
to Be June 16
A Garden Tour is planned for
Saturday, June 16th from 1 : 00 -
4: OO p. m.
The gardens on the tour are
the Galford Garden, 732s 950E;
the Sorenson Garden, 604
Holiday Dr., Greentown; the
Kurtz Garden; 846N 600E; and
the Hostetler Gardens, 1396N
700E. Tickets are $ 8 the day of
the tour and $ 6 pre- sold.

Susans, and Flook’s NAPA.
SILENT AUCTION
A silent auction of garden items
which have been decorated by
local artists will be an added
feature of the garden tour. They
will be on display June 1 1- 1 5 at
First Farmers Bank & Trust and
KeyBank. Bids can be made on
items during that week. The
items will then be at the
Hostetler garden on the day of
the tour, where bids may be
placed. The auction will end at
4: OO.

FaGade Grant
Program
Extended
The Fagade Committee of
Greentown Main Street
Association has extended the
deadline for applications for
grants to assist with restoration
of historic building fagades in
Greentown. A simple “ letter of
intent” is requested with a
description of the planned
work. The letter might
include such items as 1. general
need for the project 2. what
needs to be done 3. materials
and methods which might be
used.
This letter is due by June 15
and can be mailed to
Greentown Main Street

Greentown, IN 46936.
Members of the committee
will then meet with the
applicant to discuss the project.
Formal applications will be due
July 30,2007.

Work to Begin
on Grant Street
Project
After several months of
preliminary tasks, construction
will be starting in mid June on
improvements to Grant Street
from Mill St. to Maple St. The
project will produce new
pavement, curbs and sidewalks,
and improved drainage. E& B
Paving is the contractor and
Crossroads Engineering will
provide oversight. Crossroads
will have a construction fie! d
office near the job. A
supervisor will be on site every
day to assure that the job is
built to specifications and to
coordinate with utilities and
homeowners.
The construction cost is
$ 645,000, of which the town
will pay 20% out of its budget.
The remainder will be paid
from federal funds.
The project is expected to be
finished by early October.
