Volume 14. Issue 9 " A PaDer for the People" SePtember 2007 Chapel Dedicated at Century VillaKentury Fields The new chapel which is part of an expansion project at Century VilldCentury Fields was dedicated August 20. The event was attended by approximately 65 residents, families, and staff, some who openly expressed tears ofjoy at the fact that the day had finally arrived. Janet Lemler, Director of Nursing, Owner, welcomed those in attendance and explained the hopes and a s p i r a t i o n s f o r t h e chapel/ community room. The 3,600 square foot room will be utilized by the entire population of Century Villa and Century Fields and their families, sharing events, spiritual services, and daily activities. Pastor John O'Brien and wife Elsie shared in the celebration and have been long awaiting this day. He lead the group in prayer and asked the Blessing of the Lord be bestowed upon all those who have occasion to participate in the activities of the chapel. The attendees were lead in song by Paula Shock, who leads a volunteer prayer group at Century Fields. Music was provided by Lois Morris, Century Villa's charge nurse, playing a Baby Grand piano graciously donated to the chapel by the family of Miriam Jeffcries. When learning of the new chapel, a Bible was presented in memory of Ella Smith, a past resident, by her family. It will have its home in the chapel. As news of the opening has spread, the staff has received requests by several outside groups to entertain the residents in the community room such as a banjo player, a children's choir group, and a weekly educational program complete with slides and lecture. As an example of its diverse use, requests have ranged from the joy of a wedding held August 25th of Century Villa's Asst. Director of Nursing to a more somber request by a resident's desire to have their wake held at the facility. These events will be able to be shared by all residents unable to attend by tuning in to Channel 2 of a closed circuit televiqinn Fun at " Music at the Fountain" Photo by Rachel Jenkins Georgia DeShon, Mary Speidel, and Carol Campbell broke into an impromptu dance at " Music at the Fountain'' on August 30.
