Volume 1 Issue 5 May 1994 Bill Farrer and Jerry Kendall of Kendall Masonry lay bricks as part of the renovation of the City Building. Craig Trott and Jeff Bennett measurein preparation to hanging drywall. Trott, Bennet and Merrill Shrock have been donatingmany hours to the project. + ~~ Glass Festival Approaching Several committees have been working and are gearing up for the 22nd Greentown Glass Festival June 9 - 11. Participation in some events requires pre- registration. Princess Pageant All young ladies ages 6,7, and 8 as of June 1994 and who live in the Eastern School District are eligible to enter the Greentown Glass Festival Princess Pageant. An informational meeting will be Saturday May 7 at 10 A. M. in the Greentown Library. Interviews will take place Saturday June 4 also at the Library. The pageant is 6: 30 P. M. June 9 in the High School gym. Each girl is to furnish her own sponsor for the $ 30 entry fee. Call Michelle DeWitt, chairman, at 628- 7423 for further information. Queen Pageant The Queen Pageant is for girls in Eastern School District or who attend Eastern. It is open to current freshmen through 1994 graduates. Pre- pageant inter-views will be held at the Eastern High Auxiliary gym, following the Princess Pageant, at approximately 7: 30 P. M. June 9. This is a formal gown competition! Each girl must find her own sponsor for the $ 50 fee. Please have your sponsor make their check payable to Greentown Glass Festival. Entry deadline is Thursday May 12th! Mail your entry sheet and sponsor’s check to Laura Kemp, 1230 N 800 E, Greentown, IN 46936. If you have any questions, call Laura at 628- 2134. Costume Contest The costume contest will be Friday June 10, 600 P. M. at the o u t d o o r s t a g e . C l o t h i n g representing the 1890’ s is recommended, but any historic costume is welcome. Categories are men, women and children ( age 12 and under). There is no entry fee. Call 628- 3564 to enter. Cutie King & Queen Pageant This pageant will be held June 11, 11: OO A. M. at Eastern High School. Entries will be judged on costume of a patriotic theme or for the celebrationof Howard County’s Sesquicentennial. Age limit is 1 to 5 years of age. Candidates must live within Eastern SchoolDistrict. To enter, submit $ 3.00 payable to Greentown Glass Festival and send to Sondra Combs, 312 Harrison Court, Greentown, IN 46936 no later than May 15. Include child’s name, parent’s name, child’s age, male or female, address and phone number of residencein which child lives. Parade The Parade will be held Saturday, June 11, at 2: OO P. M. Trophies will be given in the following categories: Marching Groups and Drum and Baton, Organizational Floats, Shrine Groups, Misc., Vans and 4- Wheel Drives, Antique Tractors, Antique Fire Trucks, Walking Units, Marching Bands, Antique Autos, Classic Cars, Collector Cars and Horse & Pony. To enter, please designate your category, name, address, phone, name of entry and send to Greentown Glass Festival, Inc., Po Box 191, Greentown, IN 46936- 0191. There is no entry fee. For more information, call 628- 3535. Croquet Tournament The croquet tournament will be Saturday June 11 at 10 A. M. behind First Federal Savings Bank. The committee includes Barb and Don Middleton, Mary and Jim Miller, Ruby and Don Deshaney and Reba and Dick Price. To register, call Craft Booths To reserve a craft booth, call Debra Freeman at 628- 3176. Prices are $ 15 for one day or $ 35 for 3 days. Yard Sales To have your yard sale listed on the Yard Sale Map, call Laura Thompson at 628- 2306. There will be a $ 5 charge for a listing on the map. Flowers T h e H o w a r d C o u n t y Sesquicentennial Committee is encouraging the planting of red and white flowers. Any planting can serve a double purpose by dressisng up the town for the Glass Festival also. 628- 3361. I
