I - - I - - - stoves, water heaters, washers, dryers, furniture,
mattresses, carpet, etc. on May 13 and 20. The
I Greentown Landfill at SR 213 & 180 S will be open
the above dates from 8: 00 am. until noon or until Store

containers are full. This service is for persons
living inside the city limits of Greentown only. No
out of town t w h will be m p t e d . Persons will be
asked to sign in with name, address, and phone
number.
Material which will not be accepted include loose
items that might be blown out by wind, household
trash or recyclables, hazardous waste or solvents,
used tires, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.
If the gates are locked during the above days
and hours, the containers are already filled to
capacity.

Services, Inc., was sold for
$ 60,000 at a Sheriffs sale
April 11. The purchaser was
Martin & Bayley, Inc. of
Carmi, Illinois. Martin &
Bayley plans to open a Huck's
Convenience Store on the
property. This store will join
over one hundred other
Huck's stores in five states,
Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,
Missouri, and Iowa.
E x p e c t i n g t o h a v e a
workforce of twelve to fifteen
employees, the store will
provide self- serve gasoline
and an extensive line of
prepared foods. The foods
consist of the complete line of
Godfather's Pizzas including
dessert pizzas, submarine
sandwiches and salads made
to order, and bread baked in
the store. Seating will be
provided.
Huck's is presently located
in Evansville, Vincennes, and
Bicknell. Stores are under
construction in the Indiana
towns of Rockport, Mt.
Vernon, Chandler, Ferdinand,
J a s p e r , P e t e r s b u r g ,
Vincennes, Bloomfield,
Orleans, Seymour, and
Alexandria. According to Ben

Derailed
About 1090 p. m. Thursday, April 6, some residents on Greentown's northwest side heard a loud
rumble. The cause was the derailment between Harrison and Carter Streets of three cars of
Central Railroad Company. The cars, filled with soybeans, toppled onto their sides. They were
part of a sixty- five car train. The cargo was enroute from Amboy to Frankfort. Two other cars
came off the tracks but did not tip over. As the accident involved cars near the rear of the train,
the major part of the train was able to continue on its way, and no streets were blocked for long.
The soybeans were loaded onto trucks. About one tenth of a mile of railroad ties had to be
replaced. The track was operational about midday Saturday, April 8.
