Appearance of
Downtown
What are your dreams for the
appearance of downtown
Greentown? Would a unifying
theme be desirable? How might
changes be accomplished? These
are questions which will be
addressed by a Main Street
Association in the codng
months. The Greentown Town
Council has called a meeting for
October 10,1995,7: 00 p. m. in the
Community Room of the Public
Library, located in the high
school building. All interested
persons are invited to attend.
Since early this year the Town
Council and the Greentown Area
EconomicDevelopment Commit tee
have been c o n s i d e r i n g
beginning the process of
applying for state grants to
assist in certain downtown
improvements. The term " Main
Street" has been adopted to
apply to such projects;
however, the area most likely to
be considered at first will be
one block north and south of the
stoplight and two blocks easl
and west. A second phase might
extend the area further on MEllin
Street. Typical areas covered
by the grants are public space
such as sidewalks, street lights
and green spaces.

Kokomo/ Howard County
Development Corporation, wiU
be present to explain the grant
process and to answer
questions. Bran non was
involved in the recent
improvements to downtown
Tipton.
A Greentown Main Street
Association will be formed to
devote time'and effort to the
process. This Association will
serve in an advisory capacity to
the Town Council. Public input
will be sought at all steps of the
project. Anyone interested in
this significant revitalization
attempt should make every
effort to attend the meeting on
October 10.

downtown Greentown couldn't believe their eyes as the
' resident and two secret service agents transferred from a car
nto a Wusine and headed north on Meridian Street, escorted by
he Greentown Police. What top- secret meeting were they heading
