About this collection

Harry Frankel (1888-1948), better known as Singin' Sam the Barbasol Man, lived much of yhis life in Richmond, Indiana.  Beginning his career as a minstel performer and vaudevillian, he was a famous personality in the early days of commercial radio.  He was nationally known and much loved for his deep voice and informal, down-home style.

The collection contains images from Sam's career and audio and video files of some of his performances from the collection of the Morrisson-Reeves Public Library.  For more information about the colleciton, contact the library archivist at archives@mrlinfo.org.
