About this collection

The Elkhart County Historical Society (ECHS) tells the stories of the many people, places, and events that make up the history of Elkhart County. The Society operates a museum along with the Elkhart County Parks department that features over 30,000 artifacts and over 1,000 linear feet of archival materials including manuscript collections, publications, photographs, maps/atlases, and genealogical resources.

In an effort to preserve the ECHS collections and make them more accessible, the museum has undertaken a comprehensive digitization project. Those materials will be made available on this site. Among the first materials prioritized for digitization will be the photograph collection and the manuscript collections. Continue to check back for new additions.

Special thanks to the Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana State Library for their support.
