Please to except of my thanks for the preSent you made me the Constitution of this State; I never had an oppertunity of peruseing it before� I have riten to New-Orleans to Samuel A. Woodbury, and have given him your name, and intention of entering into the married Jane Boone, a distant cousin of his trading partners. Harrison County Marriage Records, 1809-17 (December 29, 1810). Hiram C. Boon wrote' to Tipton on July 8, 1819, from Buck Creek bottom asking Tipton's help in looking after some business and telling of his wife's critical illness. Tipton Papers. 81 The case of Randle Smith v. Benjamin Vanator, for slander, first appeared at the April Term of the Harrison County Circuit Court, 1818; at the August Term, 1819, Smith was awarded damages of $199. Vanator asked for a new trial; when the case came to trial again the sum awarded to Smith was increased to $300. Motion for a third trial was, overruled. At this same time David Austin was defendant in a suit for hog stealing. 82 Hardinsburgh is at the northeast edge of Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County. It was described in 1816 as "a new town of about 20 houses." Copy of diary written by Enoch Honeywell (page 53), in Indiana State Library.
