Van's Inn was located at the south end of Bass Lake. It was a junction for what was then SR 10 and SR 29. Today SR 29 is US 35. It was a stop for Indiana Motor Bus offering rest rooms and a cafe.

Van's Inn was located at the south end of Bass Lake. It was a combination bus stop, service station and cafe. Van's Inn was very well-known to both residents and tourists for its Bar-B-Q sandwiches. View looking south.
The Woodlawn Hotel on Bass Lake near Knox, Indiana. was originally built in 1887 as the Chittick House, a much smaller hotel. It was probably the last functioning first-class hotel on the lake.
