Idlewold was a local park and resort created by the McCarty family on the Peter Mingle farm. A golf course was added in the 1920's. Idlewold survives today as a golf course and country club.

A nine-hole golf course was added to Idlewold Park near Pendleton, Indiana in 1921 and in 1928 the back nine holes were added. The golf course and park became the Idlewold Golf and Country Club around 1946. The original clubhouse burned in 1952.
