This view of the roundhouse in North Madison is looking northward. The "Coliseum", as the locals called it, was for the purpose of servicing the engines and other rolling stock of the railroad.
This is a picture of the roundhouse at the top of the hill (North Madison) along with several out buildings used for the upkeep and repair of the trains. It was situated nearly on the crest of the hill with what would later be called the "cut"...
The train on the railroad incline is being pushed by the "Reuben Wells" locomotive as it approaches North Madison at the top of the hill. Visible in the photograph is the roundhouse and the Godman and Phillips slaughterhouse.
