Description |
Apparently Gene saw to it that Jeannette had some of the childhood experiences that she herself had. This included spending hours outdoors, having animal pets including a bantam rooster and even dressing them in clothes. Gene's rooster was named Bobby, and her blue jay, Hezekiah. She reportedly made a coat, pants, and sunbonnet for jay, and taught him to roll cherries across the floor. (page 11 Lady of the Limberlost). The dressing of birds can be seen in photograph 20092041-large. This beret belonged to Jeannette and appears in later photographs. The rooster and beret, though long gone, the wicker chair remains at the Cabin in Geneva. |

Notes |
These photographs were once part of an album and given to a good friend. Most had been labeled or named, we assume by Gene herself. |
