Description	"I saw this Blue Heron for myself, hunted him to his favorite feeding grounds alone, and secured these studies of him, which may be the reason I am so especially fond of them. I was located at a small boarding-house on the Inland Route, and with my boat had access to a half-dozen lakes and rivers which make up this chain." A variation of photo 1, this image was used in her painting of the heron on page 162, in "What I Have Done with Birds." In "The Music of the Marsh" page 663 from the September 1902 issue of "Outing Magazine", this photo carries the caption" The blue heron is a fine specimen, *** with eyes that snap as they vaguely realize an unseen danger."

Notes	The photo album was a gift to John Anderson, a friend, business associate and former school teacher to Jeannette. John was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed vacationing in northern Michigan. Many of the photographs in the album were used in magazine articles or in Gene's books.
