March 24, 1923. Dear Marshall :- Your letter concerning the Herrin er intrigues me. I take it that the investigation not involve industrial or economic phases but be somethin of the nature of a judicial inquiry the civic status of the parties involved. I used a good deal of such work in my newspaper days and ider the danger a negligible quantitiy. I would have of the value of the services except on a per diem and expenses and you know what a contry lawyer . I would like to know approximately the amount of it would take and in a general way the nature and of the inquiry. I would not want to absent myself or so long from my office here that it would amount abandonment of my business. I am very grateful for your remembrance of me in this connection. Blanche joins kindest regards to both of you. Sincerely yours,
