Description	The Madison Courier interviewed W.F. Guthrie, an old gentleman who had seen the railroad from an early time. He stated, "After a shower of rain the wheels would slip on the rail and the brakes would not have the desired effect. It was said of a railroad man who had charge of a big wood car, that he started down before the passenger and baggage cars, which were descending the hill, had gotten out of the way. It was said that when this man lost control of the car, he said: 'here we all go to hell together,' and he was thrown off, or jumped off and his head was crushed amid the rocks. The car sped on its way until it came in collision with the other cars, and knocked them forward and off the track; then came in contact with them again right at the point of the hill at the cut. There a horrible crushing of cars and mangled bodies and chaos, presented itself to sorrowing friends."
